Olney Hymns, named for the Buckinghamshire village where Cowper lived and his friend John Newton was curate, includes Cowper’s ‘God moves in mysterious ways’, Newton’s ‘Amazing Grace’, and other hymns still used in the Church of England and dissenting congregations.
