Signed binding by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Multi-coloured binding with burgundy boards and brown spine. Six compartments and five raised bands with “1908” in bottom compartment. Marbled endpapers. Beautiful gilt designs to front and rear panels and inner dentelles.. Satin ribbon bookmark. 8 plates including frontis(with tissue guard). All pages gilt edged.
Very Good +. Price-sticker shadow to rear board (11/2x2in). Bottom spine bumped. Mild wear to top spine. Touch of wear to top corners. Endpapers browned. Hint of darkening to page margins.
Overall a beautiful example from one the great luxury bookbinders of the 20th century.
